I have finally located an old apple press. I will be restoring this beautiful press back to it's original condition. I'm looking foreword to starting a fall family tradition of pressing fresh apple juice. Today's video will cover how I build the apple barrel press plate using 1 1/2 butcher block maple. I nearly completed with the cider press tray. I used red oak flooring to make the tray. Any advice as to what would be safe to finish wood with would be helpful. The lower drip tray is complete. Using oak flooring i glued sections together to collect apple cider. I have also completed one of the drip trays. I have started on the first corner section of the cider press frame.
