Following six months of research and development and a yearlong 3D animation project, Oregon State University now offers a series of innovative biology courses online that effectively puts a microscope in the hands of every distance student. The 3D virtual microscope is believed to be the first of its kind and was created in-house by OSU Ecampus multimedia developers with expertise provided by OSU faculty members. It eliminates a significant barrier to student degree completion and has won two national awards -- one for being a "creative use of technology to boost student success" and another for being an "exceptionally creative, technology-based solution to a contemporary challenge in higher education.” Learn more at ecampus.oregonstate.edu/news/2017/virtual-microscope-award
